AND THEN IT’S SPRING

The excitement of planting springtime seeds and waiting to see them sprout is delightfully captured in this Caldecott winner. Ron McLarty gently narrates, letting the experience of spring absorb the listener. He accentuates key words and dejectedly voices the refrain of "one more week." He also provides just the right amount of time for examining the details of the illustrations—from the earliest moments of dropping a seed into a hole while still wearing winter clothes to exuberantly celebrating the arrival of seedlings in bare feet. Gentle background music completes the production. Young listeners will take repeated pleasure in listening and poring over the illustrations.
