The simplicity of Alexander Adams's style conveys the ordinary quality central to Waller's text. He tells the story of the love affair between a farmer's wife and a photographer much like a reporter narrating a news segment. At first, the tone seems inappropriate for a love story. However, the result is a down-to-earth description of two people falling in love. Listeners will find Adams's unembellished narration as alluring as Waller's unadorned presentation.
