DO YOU PROMISE NOT TO TELL?

The legendary Fabergé "Moon Egg," a series of grisly murders, and a six-million-dollar art fraud combine to provide KEY-TV producer Farrell Slater with a career-saving story. Mary Jane Clark offers an assortment of suspects who inhabit New York’s elite auction houses, Farrell’s New Jersey newsroom--itself as full of intrigues as the Romanov Court--and the earthy tenements of Brighton Beach’s Little Odessa. Beth Fowler gives an intelligent reading to this whodunit, although most of the characters remain disappointingly one-dimensional. Even so, with Fowler’s capable narration, the plot unfolds in a series of short, quirky chapters, providing us with a fast-paced, if predictable, afternoon’s dalliance.
