The pace of James's reading is at the very least deliberate; some might even describe it as slow. The pace, however, allows the listener to absorb this comprehensive, detailed, and thoughtful biography of a larger-than-life political figure. James's tenor voice is most pleasing. It takes an excellent reader and, at the least, an above average text to hold a reader for 35 hours, and this audiobook meets the challenge. In addition to being a very good biography, the work would be of interest to students of the ‘60s, recent U.S. domestic policy, the presidency, and the Vietnam War.
