FAMILIES AND OTHER NONRETURNABLE GIFTS

With youthful exuberance, Tessa Auberjonois portrays middle child (and reasonably sane) Keats Sedlak. Twenty-five years old and brilliant, Keats has been in a loving relationship with down-to-earth Tom since she was 15. However, no one in the Sedlak family can be called remotely ordinary. Keats's sister is a celebrated neurologist, and her exceptional brother, who is "a little spectrum-y," hasn't left the house in two years. Her father, an internationally famous professor, lives in the attic of the family home, and her mother, a Harvard graduate, has decided to divorce him, sell the house, and begin dating. Auberjonois deals with a deft hand, keeping tight control of the material even as complicated family interactions reveal further oddities and eccentricities. Much fun.
