THE LETTER OF THE LAW

by | Read by Richard Poe

Mystery & Suspense • 9 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2000

Killer book. Killer voice. What more could you ask for in a listening experience? How about a really creepy bad guy and some very grisly deaths? Sound good? Richard Poe narrates this taut tale of terror and suspense with enough hard-boiled attitude to make even Bogart proud. He virtually spits through his teeth when describing the villainous escapades of the evil characters, then turns tender and softer when reading as the good guys. Poe is able to build suspense slowly and steadily, yet he never becomes unreliable or cartoonish. And his diction is grammar school perfect, thank you very much. This book is a welcome treat for fans of mysteries and suspense novels. R.I.G. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG/ SEP 01]
