Hinckley is the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka the Mormon Church). In spite of being the leader of a large religious organization, he has rarely been in the public eye and is unknown to most Americans. It seems this book is intended to introduce him in a noncontroversial manner. Sounding wise and avuncular, with his deep voice and engaging pace, George Grizzard does as much as one can with this text. But Hinckley's tome is a trite and simplistic presentation of morality filled with platitudes. And Grizzard can’t read subtlety into a text that has none.
