Alexa, a former lingerie model turned creator and owner of a successful lingerie company, is feeling old. Thirty-something Casey is an ex-Marine who was wounded in combat, but he's still got the courage to pursue his passion for the 50-year-old Alexa in spite of their age difference and her hesitation to have a serious relationship. Narrator Anne Johnstonbrown's playful emphasis on innuendo brings out the sexuality and situational humor of this romance. In the dialogue her low tones and easy rhythm capture the easygoing Casey. And her sultry voice and precise articulation nail Alexa's refined and sexy confidence. However, in the narrative, Johnstonbrown offers little variation in tone and pacing and seems slightly detached from the story. This makes for a somewhat inconsistent listening experience.
