It’s Jerusalem, 1948. Jews are still being persecuted and killed. Heroine Rachael Lebitkin, concentration camp survivor, is determined to improve conditions there. Susan O’Malley whisks through the historically detailed script rapidly, changing voices slightly for male and female parts. Her superb pronunciation of Hebrew words is graced with a subtle humor where appropriate. Cries of despair and triumph punctuate the Jews' struggles and victories at the hands of the military regime.
