PETER PAN

by | Read by Donal Donnelly

Children Family Listening • 6.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1904

Narrator Donal Donnelly's soothing grandfatherly voice is ideal for a story that combines adventure and fantasy. His range alters as the action changes from the comfort and familiarity of the nursery to the scariness of Captain Hook's pirate ship. Donnelly's style is particularly adept with Barrie's subtle humor. Mr. Darling is especially funny when he relegates himself to Nana's doghouse after the children disappear. Each voice is distinct, whether it's that of harsh Captain Hook, persuasive Peter Pan, or little Michael Darling. Most enjoyable for listeners is Donnelly's success at creating a feeling of being included in the story's action. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2014, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2014]
