Imagine the thrill of being strapped into the open cockpit of a 1942 Stearman biplane, "The Cannibal Queen," for a flight across America. If this type of adventure awakens the explorer in you, then you'll find this epic worth listening to. Coonts, author of Flight of the Intruder, provides the narration for his work, and herein lies the problem. It will take the most adventurous listener a long while to become enthralled with these stories while listening to the author's monotonous voice and crawling pace. Thankfully, there is no attempt at any characterization. One has to wonder how this interesting aviation story might have "flown" had it been read by a professional.
