PINKY AND REX AND THE JUST-RIGHT PET

Pinky and Rex books are favorites with children and adults for their realistic yet gentle portrayals of some of life's routine problems. Here, Pinky wants a dog, but his sister Amanda wants a kitten, and ultimately a kitten is what they get. What Pinky doesn't count on is how attached he gets to the kitten, and vice versa. Christina Moore handles the text beautifully--her gentle and calm narration includes subtle nuances of tone and expression to create a distinct voice and personality for each character. Pinky is thoughtful and accepting when the kitten is chosen, Amanda is self-centered and demanding, while Rex is light, even perky, as she listens to Pinky's problems and tries to help.
