POSTCARDS FROM EUROPE

by | Read by Rick Steves

Contemporary Culture • 3 hrs. • Anthology • © 1999

This selection of excerpts from Rick Steves's account of a road trip across Europe is more of an essay on the author's love of travel than a travelogue. The stories recall his first overseas trip with his parents, his years of traveling on the cheap throughout the continent, and his start as a travel lecturer, a career move that spawned guidebooks and a TV series. His good humored tales are told from the perspective of a confident and seasoned, yet still wide-eyed, traveler. I wasn't a fan of Rick Steves before listening to this audiobook, but I found it enjoyable and fascinating nonetheless. J.A.S. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/ MAR 02]
