Veteran journalist Kluger's exploration of "the epidemic of narcissism" as a personality disorder in our society covers a lot of territory--from Donald Trump to Eric Harris to fanatical sports fans and even to those who receive elementary school participation awards. Kluger delivers his own audiobook, a risky proposition and one Kluger avoided with his other audiobooks. Happily, he has a clear, deep voice and a consistent pace. But he's inclined to monotone. Kluger also pops up quite often in his own narrative. Whether by inserting so much of himself into this performance he is making a sly point about narcissism or has fallen prey to his own subject, one must decide for oneself. This is an informative listen. F.C. [Published: DECEMBER 2014]
