HANK THE COWDOG #38 The Fling

by | Read by John R. Erickson

Children Ages 8+ • 3 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

Hank, the self-styled "head of ranch security," gets trapped in a cattle trailer full of not-so-friendly steers, winding up in town, where he is caught by the dogcatcher/mayor. Hank and his basset hound companion, Ralph, escape and go on a fling. . . . All the major characters are here: Hank; Drover; Junior, the stuttering buzzard and his pa, Wallace; along with the others from the ranch. John Erickson performs all wonderfully, though Drover sounds a bit different than he did in Episode One. The voice for Ralph aptly conveys this slow-moving but sly hound. The hostile cattle in the trailer are also superb. All the action is amusing, and two very entertaining songs add to the mix. With the nicely done sound effects and background music, one can see why this series is so popular with the young and not-so-young. M.T.F. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 02]
