SURELY NOT, DOCTOR!

Christopher Scott's wild and theatrical interpretation of the characters from the practice of a British family physician fits the fun with which these stories unfold. All aspects of the doctor's life pop up, including stories of barging in on a French honeymoon and a patient who helps him pass a kidney stone. The audience for this light, gossipy fare will be those with a sense of humor and a curiosity about the life of a general practitioner. Although ribald and mischievous in many places, the first-person memoir covers the author's heart attack and coronary bypass operation and offers repentant observations on the ravages of smoking and the stresses of medicine.
