Therese Plummer returns to narrate the final installment of this dystopian series, part of Scott Westerfeld's Uglies tetralogy. The pace of this audiobook is breakneck, and each chapter ends with a cliff-hanger. Plummer's narration is relentless. She never falters. Her breathless delivery compels listeners to keep going even when some of the action is terrifying or slightly gruesome. She embodies characters so well and slips in and out of voices so seamlessly and with such perfect timing that one could swear one is listening to actual conversations. Plummer shines brightest when she digs deeply into the emotional trauma of the main character. Listeners will laugh, cry, and cheer as they binge on this epic conclusion. A.R.F.
