PEACH COBBLER MURDER

by | Read by Suzanne Toren

Mystery & Suspense • 9 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2005

In Fluke's mystery series, Minnesota baker Hannah Swensen makes wonderful desserts and solves the odd murder. Narrator Suzanne Toren displays her professional skills in replicating the vocal nuances of Midwestern speech. Many of her characters are prone to speak with uncomfortably high-pitched voices, but the tone seems authentic, even if irritating. Her most outstanding portrayal is that of the hung-over Southern belle who is an interloper in town. Listeners who enjoy recipes, coffee shop chitchat, down-home family sayings, historical trivia, and light romance will most likely enjoy this title. It takes four discs before the blood hits the floor, so this is more for the lover of German chocolate cake than the lover of suspense.
