Golden Voice narrator Ramon de Ocampo's audiobooks for kids

Born in the Philippines and raised in Virginia, Ramón de Ocampo has recorded well over 100 audiobooks—but kids most likely know him as the voice of the popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. His audiobook narration has garnered many awards, including 11 Earphones Awards and an Audie Award in 2018 for his work on the full cast recording of RESTART by Gordan Korman. These audiobooks, all very different from each other, show the wide range of Ramón’s narration talents for kids and young adults. Read more…

During the month of June, we celebrate our Golden Voice narrators, and so it’s my supreme pleasure to bring you more of January LaVoy’s work—an update, if you will, since her induction as a Golden Voice in 2019.

One of January’s LaVoy latest audiobooks is HIDEAWAY, a multi-generational, slow-build romance by one of the true queens of romance, Nora Roberts. I have more to say about the audiobook below, but first, let’s hear from January herself.

Narrator JD Jackson

In Conversation with Golden Voice Narrator JD Jackson

Narrator JD Jackson

JD Jackson is one of AudioFile’s 2020 Golden Voices, and he is a skilled and versatile narrator with a long list of impressive credits to his name. Listen in to JD’s conversation with Jo Reed about his love of storytelling, getting his start in acting and narrating, the joys of falling into the rhythm of reading well-written prose, and the emotional impact of narrating sermons from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

JD narrated two of this year’s Pulitzer Prize-winning audiobooks, Jericho Brown’s poetry collection THE TRADITION and Colson Whitehead’s historical novel THE NICKEL BOYS. His narration of THE NICKEL BOYS also earned JD a 2020 Audie Award nomination for Best Male Narrator. Hear more in the bonus episode of our podcast below.

5 Questions with Emily Woo Zeller Golden Voice Narrator

June is a great month to be an audiobook fan. As you probably know, this is Audiobook Month, so it’s the perfect time to celebrate and honor AudioFile’s newest class of Golden Voice narrators. This lifetime achievement award is given in recognition of excellence in audiobook performance.

Among this year’s honorees is the versatile Emily Woo Zeller, a narrator known for her careful pacing and thoughtful characterizations. I’m always impressed with her ability to convey different perspectives, attitudes, and state of mind and to subtly tweak those features as the characters in an audiobook undergo change. Emily has skillfully taken us from ancient battlefields (THE MAGNOLIA SWORD) to futuristic America (A BEGINNING AT THE END) and from contemporary fraternities (THE RED WORD) to our own messy closets (THE LIFE-CHANGING MAGIC OF TIDYING UP), all without missing a beat.

To highlight Emily’s Golden Voice performances, I’ve picked 5 AudioFile Earphones Award–winning audiobooks to suit a variety of listeners. Enjoy! Read more…
