A FALL OF MARIGOLDS

by | Read by Tavia Gilbert

Philosophy & Religion • 9.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2015

Two New York women with similar stories--separated by a century-- are richly portrayed by Tavia Gilbert. In September 1911, Clara, a nurse on Ellis Island, is heartbroken over the death of her beloved in a factory fire. One hundred years later, Taryn is devastated to learn that her husband was a victim of the Twin Towers collapse. Gilbert voices both women straightforwardly and provides many of the secondary characters with a touch of color. Her greatest strength is her portrayals of the despair felt by Clara and Taryn. Eventually, Gilbert reveals a bit of optimism as each woman nurtures some hope for a better future and the story hints at the thread that physically connects the two resolute survivors.
