IN THEIR OWN WORDS Race Across Europe

by | Read by Belton Cooper, Bertrand Close, Robert Weiss, et al.

History • 4.25 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2001

Eight American combatants in WWII recall personal experiences, telling in their own words of their experiences with weapons, food, living conditions, and the enemy. Emotions run high as men cry or laugh while recalling what seem to be unscripted war stories of the war in Europe. Since the speakers are now in their 80s, thoughts wander, and some men are difficult to understand, but the digital sound and musical additions create an enhanced educational experience not possible in printed form. However, the quality of the experience deteriorates near the end as we start hearing the questioner's woeful interviewing technique. J.A.H.
