Part of an ABC News project that also includes a video series and book, this recording magnificently captures all the triumph and the terror of modern U.S. history. Peter Jennings ties together the commentary of historians, veterans, journalists and regular citizens who put the listener in the trenches of France, in the hell of Auschwitz, on the moon, and on the banks of Love Canal. The script, delivered warmly by Jennings, is nostalgic without being sentimental, making this program one time capsule that should be not be kept sealed during the next millennium.
