A CERTAIN SMILE

Miranda Graham, an American fashion designer, travels to China, where she encounters Yuan Li, a Chinese executive. Disregarding their cultural diversity, they have an affair and are soon faced with decisions about their future as Graham's time of departure approaches. Mary Beth Quillin-Gregor portrays Graham with a down-to-earth American quality and depicts Li with an accented voice of passion and intensity. She is amazingly versatile with varied cultures and accents; the Chinese women, in particular, have a lyrical, trilling quality.
