THE VICTIM IN VICTORIA STATION

by | Read by Kate Reading

Mystery & Suspense • 7.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1999

Dorothy Martin, a transplanted American living in Britain, is a sort of post-menopausal Nancy Drew. She stumbles onto wrongdoing and and solves crimes with the help of her trusted chums. In this tale, Dorothy chats with a young American on a train, only to have him thoroughly dead by the time the train pulls into Victoria Station. Kate Reading brings us a well-rounded, likable heroine. Her British accents are ever so slightly off, but we've all heard worse attempts from Americans. Reading does have a fine sense of pacing and a voice that is pleasing to the ear. Her rendering of male characters is better than most women narrators can do. This engaging, not too scary mystery should find an ample listening audience. D.L.G. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 02]
