McCrea's characters come from an array of backgrounds, which is why it's so fortuitous that the talented Annie Farr narrates this novel. It's an interesting world McCrea tackles when he delves into the story of Lizzie Burns, the lover of lesser-known COMMUNIST MANIFESTO coauthor Friedrich Engels. The cast of characters is wide, with most, including Karl Marx, more widely known than Lizzie herself. Farr navigates varied English accents without any trouble, giving the listener an exact feel for who these people are and where they come from.
