THE FOUNTAIN

by | Read by Ruth Ann Phimister

Fiction • 7 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

Will Combrey is Casey Stowe's old flame. When he dumped her, her lifetime best friend, Michael, put her back together. Twenty years later Casey is a mother, contentedly married to Michael, a steady, decent human being, when Will reenters her life. He is a twice-divorced thoughtless, selfish, successful man, and he wants her back. The most annoying thing about this book is that it takes itself seriously. These people are so self-involved and shallow that we really don't care what happens to them. Only Ruth Ann Phimister's graceful performance keeps things from falling apart. Phimister is a fine actress. She has found the humanity in her characters, giving us another case of an excellent reading making an ordinary novel worth listening to. S.J.H.
