HOW DO WE KNOW WHEN IT'S GOD? A Spiritual Memoir

At first, Dan Wakefield's reading of his memoir about several decades of spiritual growth is a bit disturbing. His tone is flat; it's almost as if his radical change in lifestyle and his return to religion happened to someone else. There is also relatively little change in emphasis, as one might expect when hearing an account about someone falling swiftly in and out of love. However, this plain narration eventually comes to seem especially apt. The longer his spiritual quest goes on, the more it becomes clear that the crucial lessons come from paying attention to the steady flow of events, rather than seizing on easy peaks and valleys.
