ROWAN OF RIN

by | Read by Steven Crossley

Children Ages 8+ • 4 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1993

This Australian young adult fantasy concerns the journey of a young lad named Rowan and six others from the village of Rin. One day the villagers discover their mountain stream has gone dry, and these seven set out to discover the reason and restore the stream. Along the way all save Rowan drop out or are killed. In the end, Rowan is able to get the water flowing again and saves the day. Englishman Steven Crossley does a fine job narrating this captivating tale. (I'm sure that somewhere there's a dragon fantasy narrated by someone without an English accent, but it would not be the same.) His voice is steady and measured, clearly reading both dialogue and narrative. M.T.F. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG/SEP 02]
