This goofy adventure story--very Terry Pratchett like--is exuberantly narrated by its author. Colin Farnsworth's main claims to fame are excelling at playing Fantasy Underworld cards and writing less-than-stellar science fiction stories. Sands is a perfect Farnsworth, a bit of a loser but sweet enough to attract his cupcake-baking neighbor, Ann. Most fun and realistic are the four leprechauns who rent rooms in Farnsworth's Alaska home. Together, they take on dog-stealing birds and a building inspector who sounds just like the bureaucrat he is.
