SUNNY'S NIGHTS Lost and Found at the Bar at the End of the World

by | Read by Robert Malloch

Biography & Memoir • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2016

This enjoyable production tells the story of Sunny's, a rundown bar where everybody knows your name. Narrator Robert Malloch is longtime friends with both author Tim Sultan and Sunny Balzano, the eccentric bar owner at the center of this urban tale. This familiarity allows Malloch to present a textured rendering of both Sultan's and Balzano's experiences, and the listener is better off for it. He does likewise for the many denizens who wander into and/or stay at the dive in Brooklyn's Red Hook neighborhood. Thanks to Malloch's breezy, conversational narration, the years fly by, and they aren't kind, either to Sunny's or Sunny himself. Sultan and Malloch skillfully have preserved a moment in place and time, which, unfortunately, is fleeting. D.E.M. © AudioFile 2016, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2016]
