THE FROG PRINCE

This musical play, written and recorded for children, is jaunty and joyful, with plenty of advice on negotiating life's tangled pathways tucked into the songs and story. The singer-actors interpret the songs and script with wit, enthusiasm, and energy. Some songs are so engagingly performed that listeners sing right along. Gerth (Aloysius) has a deep, melodious voice that lends strength to the narration. Callner (Fairy godmother) performs with a scatter-brained whackiness that is at once charming and amusing. Spahr (Princess) couples a fine singing voice with well-prepared dramatic interpretation that easily carries the part. The musical play's ability to inspire the creation of pictures in the mind adds a deeper level of enjoyment to the listening experience. R.M.
