THE MAMUR ZAPT AND THE GIRL IN THE NILE

by | Read by Stuart Langton

Mystery & Suspense • 10.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1992

Cadwallander Owen, the Mamur Zapt, head of the British CID in Cairo, tries to solve the death of a young woman whose body is missing and instead finds intrigue and surprises. Using several styles of upper-class British accents, Stuart Langton gives each of the British characters unique voices. The Egyptian roles sound much the same unless the character, such as Prince Fahid, plays an ongoing part in the story. Langton captures the fiery inner core, as well as the personal fortitude, of Zeinab, Owen's Egyptian love. He portrays Owen as a civil servant doing his best and puts real enthusiasm into conveying both the dramatic and humorous situations Owen faces. P.A.J.
