THESE OLD SHADES

Foppish, pompous Justin Alastair, Duke of Avon and notorious schemer, finds Leon in the streets of Paris and buys him body and soul. In a series of maneuvers to intrigue the elite of Paris, Alastair brings Leon everywhere with him as his page. When he discovers Leon is a girl, Alastair decides to adopt her for his own schemes. Cornelius Garrett reads this convoluted story with British accents, no matter what the setting of the scene is. Garrett captures high society in the eighteenth century as the elite wile away their lives in luxury and schemes to embarrass or destroy others. M.B.K.
