AN ALBUM OF MEMORIES Personal Histories from the Greatest Generation

by | Read by a Full Cast

Biography & Memoir • 4 hrs. • Abridged • © 2001

Tom Brokaw captures many heartfelt responses to his book and television feature on "the Greatest Generation" in this collection of memories and personal letters to the newscaster. Brokaw introduces each series of recollections by reading a brief history of events during WWII. His authoritative voice lends itself well to the scholarly aspects of this book but is less believable when introducing the lives of others; his voice does not gather enough warmth to convey the emotions of the speakers who follow. Each actor does a stellar job reading the words of the elderly, although with some disconnect--at one point, a reader portrays a Boston accent as decidedly Southern. All in all, if you're interested in the thoughts of those who believe they are part of the Greatest Generation, this is an interesting presentation.
