EDDIE'S BASTARD

On one hand, this audiobook is an American epic, full of war heroes and father figures, good boys and beautiful girls. On the other hand, the flaws in these characters are what make this epic real and riveting. Tom Stechschulte narrates a story full of flashbacks and subtle symbolism, lending an appropriate voice to each of his characters and lacing the fascinating plot with enthusiasm. His depiction of the narrator's grandfather is one of the most touching and humorous personalities on audio. Watching the title character, Billy, grow up is at once fun, poignant, and inspiring. While some twists in the story border on the absurd, the majority of the action is interesting and surprising. Truly a great listen. L.B.F.
