MERCY

An impossibly handsome, nice, and brilliant Justice Department lawyer woos an impossibly beautiful, nice, and brilliant surgeon in a Louisiana backwater. Meanwhile, New Orleans white crime conspirators resort to murder to avoid discovery. But, before her demise, the victim, spouse of one of the confederates, sent incriminating documents to the aforesaid surgeon. So the boys quickly dispatch their stealthy hired killer to the backwater. Reader Johanna Rodriguez gives the heroine and her romance considerable charm. Rodriguez has a shy, youthful quality and an ability to keep the listener involved despite her limited vocal range. She also provides plenty of menace. Y.R.
