Narrator Kevin Lusignolo handles this spirited confection adroitly. In this sendup of a classic "amateur detective" murder mystery, female impersonator and well-connected Louisiana caterer Pancetta steps into the breach when a household celebrating the wedding of a pair of grooms becomes a crime scene. As McKittrick's story exhibits all the costuming and class details of a 1930s locked-room mystery, Lusignolo moves smoothly among the characters. Neither overly clever plotting nor any social message slows the silly yet satisfying unfolding of manners, trysts, and general enthusiasm for pouring on Gay Thirties' tropes.
