THE GOLDEN ONE

Amelia Peabody is the sort of eminent Victorian Englishwoman who carries a dagger concealed in her parasol because she's often called upon to fight off antiquities smugglers and other villains as she and her archaeologist husband and son explore the royal tombs of the pharaohs. Barbara Rosenblat is a perfect match for Peabody: they are both smart, capable, funny, focused, and utterly unflappable, and neither one of them has ever met an exotic character she couldn't handle.
