ON THE SAND PLANET

The works of Cordwainer Smith, published mostly in the 1950s and 1960s, continue to have a following in the science fiction world. Many go so far as to consider him the embodiment of what is good in science fiction: deep themes, empires, and adventure. The author made this recording in 1965. He was dictating for a typist, and the audio quality is not great. In fact, the cover warns of volume changes and background hums, which are certainly present. Still, the recording has historical value and should be of interest to a fan. The author's voice comes through, and the story engages. S.D.
