A TOUCH OF FROST

An encounter with Jack Frost (be it book, audiobook, or TV) is an EVENT. He is funny, cynical, and a bit sloppy but also dedicated, outraged, and unconventional when the underdog is concerned. It is the night of a colleague's farewell party, and Jack's on call when a local street person is found dead. Torn between the desire for free booze and his compassion for the poor family, Jack tries to do everything. Narrator Robin Browne bestows on Wingfield's memorable characters his trademark individuality; each person is different in discernable and less obvious ways. We care about the downtrodden and can see the world from their perspective, as Jack does. Browne aptly portrays the subtle humor and high emotion of this story's fascinating subplots.
