FORWARD A Memoir

Wambach chronicles her growth as a premier player in women's soccer. In doing so, she places herself in the context of changes that came, in part, from federal legislation that opened up opportunities for women athletes and supported the growth of women's professional sports. Wambach's narration sounds measured, reflecting a narrow range of emotion. She recounts her advancement as an athlete as well as the pressures on her and how she handled them. As she reads in short phrases, her delivery becomes singsong at times, but overall her presentation highlights the personal nature of her memoir and the discipline that contributed to her success as an athlete.
