Though several years old now, his thoughts are well grounded in economic history and have lost no value since publication. He is especially insightful about industry cycles and how changes in demographics influence demand for a wide range of products and services. The abridged version is worthwhile but doesn't allow as much sustained involvement with these important ideas.
