Here is a wonderfully helpful guide for anyone adjusting to a major loss. The scope of this work is impressive--authors James and Friedman survey every type of grieving imaginable and yet manage to stay focused on grieving as a human process with certain commonalities and healing requirements. Though this unabridged program is heavy with information, it's a pleasant listening experience because of the authors' sensitivity and the excellent reading by Brian Keeler. The presentation is weighted toward the mental health end of the advice spectrum rather than the spiritual, but it seems spiritual nonetheless and is not at all pedantic or clinical sounding. A treasured companion and helpful resource for any grieving person who needs some well-balanced guidance. T.W. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 03]
