LOVE MUST BE TOUGH

Dobson is a widely known and celebrated Christian teacher. Like in his other writings and broadcasts for "Focus on the Family," this audio provides a thoughtful view of the moral challenges facing married couples, especially the challenges of erotic love and narcissism. Like some Christian approaches to these matters, the audio sometimes succumbs to the temptation to be moralistic. However, many of the suggestions are consistent with good mental health practice--maintain self-esteem and internal discipline, hold a steady course in life, think before you act--and broaden the appeal of the author's message. He is critical of Christian approaches that focus on turning the other cheek and submitting blindly to religious authority that is not helpful in these matters. T.W.
