This audiobook tells the Pulitzer Prize-winning story of a boy from Honduras who braves all manner of dangers to reunite with his mother, who left for the United States 11 years earlier. Narrator Catherine Byers's delivery combines a soft tone of empathy for the characters and an authoritative, reportorial assuredness that respects the author's intent. Byers enunciates every word, which enables listeners to easily follow the story. She reads the Spanish words without a specific accent and otherwise avoids character voices.
