HEARTS ON PILGRIMAGE A Daily Audio Devotional

These four CDs are broken into fifteen-minute segments, intended to provide brief morning devotions to cover a month of five-day work weeks. Each segment contains music, readings from the Bible, and selections from the rich tradition of Christian devotional writing. These range from prayers written by John Wesley and Hildegard of Bingen, to quotations from Gustavo Gutierrez to Augustine of Hippo. The sound quality is universally high, handing the challenge of blending choral music, liturgy, and quiet reflection with smooth ease. The only drawback to this collection is its ambition; with 10 selections contained in each brief segment, the result is at times overwhelming, rather than meditative. G.T.B.
