FAT CAT AND FRIENDS

This collaborative effort between storyteller Margaret Read MacDonald and musician Richard Scholtz brings to life seven folktales. MacDonald skillfully adapts the folktales with rhyming refrains that, when combined with Scholtz's lively, lilting music, leave the listener humming long after the CD has stopped playing. The music serves as more than decoration and often works to further the action, changing pitch to match the events of the stories. MacDonald is a compelling storyteller, with a voice that exudes joy and enthusiasm and that demands the listener's attention. The production invites repeat listening. A.F.
