IT HAPPENS IN THE HAMPTONS

Narrator Em Eldridge gives the listener a peek at the lives of the beautiful people who summer in the Hamptons alongside the hardworking locals. Katie, a single mother, is caught between both worlds as she dates George, a businessman, but is drawn to Luke, a teacher. Eldridge smoothly brings out Katie's naïveté as she encounters the elite ladies of the country club. Listeners will be drawn to stand-up Luke while being curious about George's motives for courting Katie. The meticulous descriptions of the wealthy characters' homes, cars, and clothes add to the story's ambiance, but the constant listing of their prices can be tedious. While the sexual encounters are graphic, the plot drags a bit until the last exciting chapters--though Eldridge's narration never falters.
