Though hedge fund founder Ray Dalio has a rich vocal tone, his slow enunciation and overwrought emotional intensity make his performance of this audiobook an obstacle. Worse, the certitude in his reading and writing style is not supported by the reductive, often hackneyed insights he shares. He starts his audiobook with a long biographical segment and then unevenly elaborates on three recommendations: own your power to see clearly and make decisions, look at external reality honestly, and act in accordance with what you see in both realms. Though his co-narrator does an excellent job with his segments, Dalio's overbearing reading and his mechanical-sounding ideas will make getting through all 16 hours of this audio a heavy lift.
