VOICE LESSONS A Sisters Story

Cara Mentzel's voice is crisp and clear as she narrates her own story of growing up as Broadway star Idina Menzel's little sister. The relationship between sisters is a complex one, and listeners will feel all the love and, at other times, all the pain in Cara's voice. The book is full of juxtaposed situations with mirrored emotions. Cara's life is centered on raising babies, and Idina's is focused on belting out tunes. At one point, as Cara recounts a domestic dispute she experienced, her voice rings with fear, which is not all that different from the worry she experienced when she was responsible for returning her sister's borrowed diamonds after an awards show.
